Plantmate G2 v3.1.0 focuses on reliability, smarter pump control, improved user experience, and significant cloud communication optimizations. This update resolves several edge-case issues discovered during long-term testing and introduces new usability improvements for maintenance operations.

What’s New

Reliable Activity Logging

Improved timestamp handling throughout the system to eliminate rare logging inconsistencies caused by simultaneous background tasks accessing the clock data.

• Fixed occasional incomplete timestamps appearing in watering activity logs.
• Added a new validated timestamp system to ensure all logs use complete and accurate date/time information.
• Improved consistency between EEPROM records and SD card log entries.

Improved Manual Pump Control

Manual pump activation now behaves the same as automatic watering cycles.

• Added a 1-second startup boost at full power before switching to the selected operating speed.
• Improves pump startup reliability, especially at lower PWM settings.
• Pump speed values are now controlled through centralized configuration constants for easier future tuning.
• Manual activity logs now use the same validated timestamp system as automatic watering events.

Timer Mode Protection Improvements

Timer Mode has been updated to better support installations where moisture sensors are not directly monitoring the watered plant.

• Empty-tank detection is now disabled when operating in Timer Mode.
• Prevents false pump-failure warnings in multi-plant watering setups.
• Moisture-rise checks are skipped when Timer Mode is active.
• Existing pump protection limits remain in place, including the 30-second maximum watering cycle.
• Updated warning messages in the web interface clearly explain the new behavior.

New Maintenance Hold-Progress Screen

The Maintenance Menu now provides visual feedback while holding the button for system actions.

• Displays a progress bar during Wi-Fi Reset and Factory Reset operations.
• Shows a real-time hold timer and selected action.
• Indicates whether releasing the button will cancel or confirm the operation.
• Makes maintenance actions clearer and more user-friendly.

Blynk Cloud Optimization

Significantly reduced cloud message traffic without affecting normal monitoring.

• Settings are only transmitted when values change.
• RSSI, uptime, and historical information are sent less frequently.
• Live sensor data and status updates continue to update in real time.
• Automatic full synchronization occurs whenever the device reconnects.

Result: Steady-state Blynk traffic has been reduced from approximately 30 messages per update cycle to about 9 messages per cycle, improving efficiency and reducing quota usage.
