Plantmate G2 v5.0.1 is a major upgrade that brings the G3 software architecture and a completely redesigned web app to existing G2 hardware. The update improves long-term reliability, keeps the controls responsive while watering, adds better per-plant protection, and makes setup and daily use simpler.

What’s New

A Completely Redesigned Web App

The Plantmate G2 web app now uses the cleaner G3 design while remaining optimized for two plants.

• A new dashboard shows temperature, humidity, light, both plants, recent activity, and live watering or error status.
• The new Plants page provides guided setup for plant names, icons, watering mode, timer intervals, and moisture-sensor calibration.
• The History page includes moisture charts, watering markers, environmental trends, statistics, watering logs, CSV export, and SD-card file access.
• The Settings page brings Wi-Fi, device name, time, Telegram, sensor offsets, SD-card tools, firmware updates, and factory reset into one place.
• Plant settings and timer changes are easier to understand and safer to apply.

More Responsive and Reliable Watering

The watering system has been rebuilt around a non-blocking control design. The display and network remain responsive while a pump is running or while the system waits for moisture to settle.

• Every pump receives a 1-second full-power startup boost for reliable operation at lower speed settings.
• Sensor Mode makes up to three watering attempts and checks the moisture response after each attempt.
• Timer Mode continues to support installations where the sensor is not directly monitoring the watered plant.
• Manual stop, cooldown, and settings-page protections help prevent unintended watering.
• Offline timer fallback allows scheduled watering to continue when internet time is temporarily unavailable.

Independent Protection for Each Plant

Watering errors are now tracked separately for Plant 1 and Plant 2. If one plant does not show the expected moisture increase, that plant enters an error state while the other plant can continue operating normally.

• Clear watering and error badges appear in the web app.
• The OLED retains the familiar full-screen WATER ERROR warning.
• Telegram can send an urgent alert when a watering problem is detected.
• Errors can be cleared from the web app, Telegram, or by starting a manual watering cycle.

Improved Settings and Activity History

Plantmate G2 now uses a more durable settings system and expanded activity storage.

• Settings are stored in the ESP32’s protected non-volatile storage with a filesystem mirror.
• The five most recent watering events for each plant survive normal restarts.
• Thirty-day summaries support the new History page and charts.
• SD-card CSV data remains compatible with the existing Plantmate log format.

Two-Way Telegram Control

Telegram is now the recommended option for remote monitoring and control. In addition to alerts, the bot supports status checks, plant summaries, manual watering, pause and resume, stop, error clearing, and inline control buttons.

The legacy Blynk integration has been retired in v5.0.1. The local Plantmate web app continues to work on your home network, while Telegram provides remote access without requiring the Blynk app.

Familiar OLED Experience

Although the internal software and web app have been rebuilt, the 0.96-inch OLED experience remains familiar. The existing screens, logo, QR page, watering and error screens, maintenance menu, hold-progress bar, display sleep, and boot-button Wi-Fi reset continue to work as before.

Important Update Notes

This release requires both update files included in the download package:

1. Install G2_firmware_501.bin as Firmware.
2. Install G2_filesystem_501.bin as Filesystem.

Install the firmware first, then the filesystem. Keep the Plantmate powered on and do not refresh, close, or leave the update page during either installation.

Because v5.0.1 replaces the previous web app, the filesystem update resets Plantmate settings to their defaults. Your saved Wi-Fi credentials are retained, but plant names, watering modes, moisture calibration, Telegram settings, offsets, and other device preferences must be configured again after updating.

Summary

Plantmate G2 v5.0.1 is the largest G2 software update to date. It combines a modern web experience with more responsive pump control, independent protection for each plant, durable settings and history, and two-way Telegram access—all while preserving the familiar G2 OLED controls.
